Add KPIs to a Profiling Definition

This article provides a guide for adding one or more data quality or business impact KPIs to an existing Cuneiform for Salesforce profiling definition. If you haven’t created a profiling definition yet, refer to Complete Guide to Creating a Profiling Definition for guidance.

This guide applies to Cuneiform for Field and Data Management, Business Data Reliability, and Data Cloud. The procedure for crafting profiling definitions is generally consistent across these applications. Where there are differences, they are presented in a two- or three-column format to delineate application-specific steps.

Detailed Instructions

Follow these steps to add KPIs to an existing profiling definition.

Select a Profiling Definition to Extend with Data Reliability KPIs

From the Cuneiform for Salesforce home page, identify and select the profiling definition to which you want to add KPIs. Profiling definitions are listed on the home page or in the Profiling Definitions drop-down.

Launch the KPI Assignment Wizard

To open the KPI Assignment Wizard, click on the Assign KPIs button in the upper-right corner of a Profiling Definition’s record detail header – via the Quick Action bar.

Click on the Assign KPIs Quick Action to Launch the KPI Assignment Wizard.

The KPI Assignment Wizard allows users to select existing Salesforce Object fields representing Data Quality or Business Impact KPIs. Use this wizard to associate KPIs to the profiling definition. The definition automatically calculate aggregate values for each KPI the next time profiling occurs.

Search for and Select Data Quality KPIs

Using the search field below Available Fields, search for the data quality KPIs to be included in the selected profiling definition. Only aggregate-able formula fields (ex. fields generating a percent or checkboxes) are listed in the Data Quality KPI selection step.

Selecting Data Quality KPIs

Cuneiform for Salesforce allows you to add data quality KPIs to a profiling definition. Different Cuneiform for Salesforce applications allows for different amounts of data quality KPIs to be added to one profiling definition:

Field and Data Management

Cuneiform for Field and Data Management allows up to three (3) data quality KPIs to be added to a profiling definition.

Data Cloud and Business Data Reliability

Cuneiform for Business Data Reliability and Data Cloud allows an unlimited number of data quality KPIs to be added to a profiling definition.

 

Use the directional buttons to the right of the Available Fields list to move data quality KPIs to the Selected Fields list, adding them to the profiling definition.

  • The topmost button can move all available data quality KPIs to the Selected Fields section.

  • The second button to move KPIs individually.

  • The third button can move a KPI from Selected Fields to Available Fields, removing it from the profiling definition.

  • The fourth button removes all data quality KPIs in the Selected Fields area back to the list of Available Fields.

The Data Quality KPIs that were selected will appear under the Selected Fields section. Users can leverage the action buttons to remove selections from the Profiling Definition.

In the above example, the data quality KPIs selected are Opportunity Completeness % (KPI) and Opportunity Risk Exposure % (KPI).

  • Opportunity Completeness % (KPI) measures the completeness of the opportunity fields. For example, if only half of the fields on an opportunity are complete, it has a 50% opportunity completeness.

  • Opportunity Risk Exposure % (KPI) measures the risk of losing the opportunity due to missing or incomplete fields. This is a custom calculation created via a Salesforce formula field.

Click Next to continue the wizard's business impact KPI selection, where you’ll select business impact KPIs to include in your profiling definition. The data quality KPIs you selected will be listed for reference on the business impact KPI selection page.

Selecting Business Impact KPIs

Using the search field below Available Fields, search for the business impact KPIs you want to include in the profiling definition. Any field that is aggregate-able (ex. currency, number, decimal) will be displayed in this wizard step.

In the example above, the business impact KPIs selected are Amount and Opportunity Age (KPI).

  • Amount measures the revenue possible to earn by winning and closing an opportunity.

  • Opportunity Age (KPI) measures the age of an opportunity or how long it has been present in the Salesforce org.

Click Next to review and finalize the KPIs you added to the profiling definition.

Finalizing Your Data Reliability KPI Selections

Review the updated details of the profiling definition, including the newly added Data Quality and Business Impact KPIs. Additionally, you can check one or both of the options below the details to include them in the updated profiling definition:

  • Immediately begin profiling this Salesforce object after saving

    • This option will immediately initiate profiling after clicking Save.

  • Send me a notification when profiling completes

    • This option will notify you via email whenever this profiling definition is run and completed.

Check the options you’d like to include for this profiling definition. These options can be changed at a later date if needed.

Click Save to the KPI associations to the selected profiling definition. The profiling definition’s record detail page will now indicate that it includes data reliability KPIs by displaying a checkmark next to Has Data Reliability KPIs.
