Configure Cuneiform for Data Cloud

This document centralizes all configuration instructions for Cuneiform® for Data Cloud. You can use this page to guide you through the configuration and permission set assignment process.

If you haven’t installed Cuneiform for CRM already – please follow the steps outlined in our installation and setup guide. This guidance will explain how to download, install, configure, and validate that Cuneiform for CRM is correctly configured in your Salesforce Org.

Configuration Instructions

Perform the following steps to configure Cuneiform for Data Cloud access from within your Salesforce Org. Cuneiform for Data Cloud access is governed by our Cuneiform for Data Cloud permission sets. These permission sets provide access to our application in Salesforce orgs.

Create the Cuneiform for Data Cloud: Administrators Permission Set Group

The first step in the configuration process is to create a permission set group to manage access to Cuneiform for Data Cloud. Use these instructions to create a permission set group that abstracts access to our administrative permission set – and any other permission sets you use to govern access to Data Cloud.

Like Cuneiform for CRM, we have an administrative permission set that governs profiling access to Cuneiform for Data Cloud. We also have a Read Only permission set that governs read-only access to Cuneiform for Data Cloud profiling results.

  1. From your Salesforce org, navigate to Setup.

  2. In Setup, search for Permission Set Groups in the quick-find menu.

  3. Select Permission Set Groups from the Setup Navigation menu.

  4. From the Permission Set Groups list view, click on the New Permission Set Group button to open the Create a Permission Set Group window. We’ll use this group to associate any permissions related to Cuneiform for Data Cloud.

  5. Complete the Create a Permission Set Group form, including a Label, API Name, and Description. While we recommend you use specific values (identified in the table below), you can use your values for the Label, API Name, and Description fields. If you decide to use your own values, remember that all permission set group API names must be unique within your Salesforce org.

If you decide to use values other than those in the table below, make note of them for future use as they are required to assign Admin access to Cuneiform for CRM.

Description

This permission set group manages the collection of permission sets required to support administrative access to Cuneiform for Data Cloud. Org Admins can assign this group to users that should have profiling capabilities within their Salesforce Org.

All permission set group API Names must be unique in your Salesforce org.

  1. Click on the Save button to persist your changes. Saving your permission set group will redirect you to the record detail page for this new permission set.

With the permission set group completed – you can now assign the users that should have access to Cuneiform for Data Cloud to this permission set group.

Add the Cuneiform for Data Cloud: Administrators Permission Set

The second step in the configuration process is to assign the Cuneiform for Data Cloud: Administrators and Cuneiform for CRM: Connected App Assignment permission sets to the newly created permission set group.

  1. From the Permission Set Groups list view, click on the permission set group created in the previous set of instructions.

  2. Click on the Permission Sets in Group link located at the top of the Permission Set Group page.

  3. Clicking Permission Sets in Group will bring up a list view of all the permission sets added to the permission set group. As this is a new permission set group – the list of permission sets should be empty.

  4. Click on the Add Permission Sets button to open a list view of all permission sets that can be added to the permission set group.

  5. From the list of available permission sets, locate and check the boxes to the left of the permission sets Cuneiform for CRM: Connected App Assignment and Cuneiform for DataCloud: Administrative User.

Selecting the C from the alphabet above the list view of permission sets will filter the list, and might make it easier to locate and check the correct permission sets.

  1. Click the Add button to associate these permission sets to the newly created permission set group.

  2. Click the Done button to acknowledge that these permission sets were added to the parent group. Clicking on Done will return you to the permission sets in the group list view. Use the Back to Permission Set Group breadcrumb link to return the parent group’s record detail page.

Manage Assignments to the Data Cloud: Administrators Permission Set Group

The third step in the configuration process is to assign users to the permission set group. You can assign users to this group to provide them with the permissions necessary to access Cuneiform for Data Cloud.

  1. From the permission set group’s record detail page, click the Manage Assignments button to add users to this group.

  2. Click the Add Assignment button to add users to this permission set group.

  3. Check the checkbox(es) next to each user you want assigned to the permission set group.

  4. Click Next to continue.

  5. By default, users assigned to permission set groups have no expiration. If you want to add an expiration for this user's assignment to the permission set group, click Specify the expiration date and select one of the available expiration options.

  6. Click the Assign button to assign the selected users.

  7. Click the Done button to acknowledge that the selected users were assigned.
