Send Email Alerts when Profiling Failures Occur via Scheduled Flows

Cuneiform® for CRM allows users to schedule profiling using existing profiling definitions. This is accomplished through a schedule-triggered flow template provided with our managed package. The flow template includes logic to automatically send an email to the user when an exception occurs.

This capability is critical – as it will proactively alert a user if an exception occurs during profiling triggered during an automated process. Without this alert, users must inspect profiling results and Salesforce Debug logs to find exceptions and triage them. The email alert eliminates this activity.

Enabling email alerts from a schedule-triggered flow requires two configuration steps:

This article guides users through the first configuration step – and demonstrate how to configure and verify organization-wide email addresses that the automated process user can leverage.

Detailed Instructions

Perform the following steps to define and validate an organization-wide email address:

  1. From the Setup menu, use the quick-find to search for organization. This will eliminate Setup menu options that do not match the search phrase – and display the Organization-Wide Addresses page.

  2. Click on the Organization-Wide Addresses menu link to open this Setup page. You’ll use this page to configure an email address that the automated process user can leverage.

  3. Click the Add button to launch the Organization-Wide Email Address form. This will load a new page where users can specify the organization-wide email address to add to the Salesforce org.

  4. In the form, specify the Display Name, Email Address, and Purpose of the email address being added to the Salesforce org as an organization-wide email address. The Display Name and Email Address must be unique within your Salesforce org. When defining a purpose, please select User Selection and check the Allow All Profiles to Use this From Address radio option.

    1. You can customize the purpose options based on the security requirements of your Salesforce org. For example, you can limit the profiles and permission sets that can leverage this – and use our permission sets to govern which users can profile with Cuneiform for CRM.

  5. Click the Save button to persist the email address to the Salesforce org. This will reload the page where the newly added email address should be listed.

  6. When the page reloads – confirm that the newly added email address is listed. The email should have a status of Verification Request Sent. When an organization-wide email address is created, a verification email is automatically sent from the Salesforce org to that email. Please check the email address inbox, find the verification email, and click on the verification link included.

    1. The email will have a title that includes the phrase Verify your Salesforce Organization-Wide Address. Please note that the verification link included in the email will expire within 72 hours from the date the verification email was first sent. You can resend the verification email using the Resend Link in the list view below.

  7. After clicking the link in the verification email, please reload the Organization-Wide Addresses page and confirm that the status for this email is Verified.

    1. Only verified email addresses can be leveraged by the automated process user. If the status does not appear as Verified, please resend the verification email – and go through the verification process again.

Nice work! You’re now ready to proceed to the next steps in Assigning an Email Address to the Automated Process User.
